Bible Study Tools
In lieu of Bible software, biblical studies students can use online Bible study tools to help them do research. Most of the secondary resources on these sites, however, are outdated and in many cases evince an uncritical bias. So, use these resources critically.
- Bible Study Tools
- In addition to lots of Bible translations and versions, this site also has lexicons, concordances, commentaries, encyclopedias and dictionaries. You can access their website through the link I've provided or by using the "Search the Bible" interface above.
- InscriptiFact
- The West Semitic Research Project at USC has developed a Java application that allows scholars and students to access high resolution images of inscriptions and papyri from the ancient Near East, Egypt, and the wider Mediterranean world. The pictures are truly amazing! While access is free, you must apply for a user name and password.
- Biblos.com
- Another useful service for searching the Bible and related resources. Biblos.com, along with the next Bible search tools, include biblical texts in the original languages.
- BibleGateway.com
- BibleGateway.com is a free service for reading and researching scripture online using the language or translation of your choice. BibleGateway.com provides searching capabilities based on keywords or scripture references as well as various additional tools to enhance your study of the Bible.
- The Unbound Bible
- Biola University provides some great Bible study tools too. With a personalized free account, you can make full use of their searchable Bibles by saving verses, study links and more. They also provide downloadable Bibles and fonts.
- Provisional Editions of NETS
- The team responsible for the New English Translation of the Septuagint (NETS) has made available provisional editions of this important, new resource. The files of the provisional editions are in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format.
